Frequently Asked Questions

What does an appointment consist of?

An appointment consists of the use of various approaches together, meaning a perspective that can range from the more subtle holistic approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with massage and acupuncture, in combination with the more robust approach of the body through tests and dismissals of Osteopathy and its manipulations. It varies depending on the case and the individual.

Are acupuncture and osteopathy safe practices?

Sometimes both Acupuncture and Osteopathy bring some unfounded beliefs regarding their safety and effectiveness, but both are supported by science and evidence, reaffirmed through educational institutions like the Red Cross.

How many treatments are needed?

The combination of the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach with Osteopathy aims to reduce the number of interactions required to resolve the condition being treated. However, the number varies depending on the case, its complexity, and the individual along with all their variables. The duration of treatment and its variants are discussed and reviewed regularly, in order to give a realistic expectation.

What should I expect in my first appointment?

The first appointment lasts between 1h15 and 1h30, comprising the following phases:

Auscultation – Your health concerns will be listened to and discussed in depth to create a treatment plan to follow or adapt during subsequent visits.

Diagnosis– Asked questions about previous treatments, medical history, diet and digestion, sleep patterns, among others. Examinations and preliminary screening tests may be requested.

Treatment – in the case of Acupuncture, the therapy lasts about 30 minutes – time during which you can relax or meditate and let the treatment unfold; in the case of Osteopathy, it will be brief, lasting just a few minutes.

How should I prepare for the appointment?

Before appointment:

  • Make sure you are hydrated and not hungry. You shouldn’t overeat, just make sure you’re properly nourished.
  • Bring comfortable clothes that allow free movement of arms and/or legs.
  • Expose your concerns and feel free to ask questions and clarify curiosities.

After appointment:

  • It is recommended that you avoid excessive efforts, such as the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or demanding physical exercise. This will allow the maximization of treatment results.

Between appointments:

  • Regist the changes you feel, allowing you to give complete and correct feedback on treatments. It will be essential to evaluate the processes and make adjustments or adaptations to the therapy.
What are possible side effects after a session?

After Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and/or Osteopathy treatments, it is natural that you feel some changes. In the days following the treatment (between 48h and 72h) you may feel slightly sore, drowsy, with less desire to move and/or appetite changes.

It’s part of the process. It is a sign that your body is acting on its self-regeneration.

In case of severe concern, contact us. We will be available to follow your process and clarify it.
